Biography
Teresa Francis is the Communications Manager at the IU Indianapolis Office of Community Engagement, where she leads strategic communications and marketing efforts that spotlight how the campus engages and partners with the community. This includes managing strategy, storytelling, and design across platforms—websites, newsletters, social media, video, and print—to create messages that connect, inform, and inspire.
Teresa holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in Communication from the IU School of Liberal Arts, as well as a Master of Science in Media Arts and Science from the IU Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering. Her work blends communication, creative design, and storytelling with a passion for community engagement and the arts.
As the former Marketing Director for the OnyxFest theater festival, sponsored by IU Indianapolis, Teresa helped bring the program to the forefront by managing creative promotion, outreach, and storytelling that elevated Black voices and theatrical expression.
A multifaceted creative, Teresa is also a videographer, editor, graphic designer, actress, producer, and script supervisor. Her credits include The Camp, Home Before the Holiday, Voices of Indiana Avenue at the District Theater, and most recently, the short film LadyBug, which has been featured at film festivals around the world.
Outside of her professional and creative work, Teresa is active in her church community, serving on the broadcast team and participating in music ministry, outreach, and fundraising efforts. Whether through media, ministry, or the arts, she is committed to using her voice and talents to uplift others and share stories that matter.
