The Office of Community Engagement has become the Office of Workforce & Community Engagement. In the months ahead, we will refresh our website and resources to showcase our work advancing talent, partnerships, and community impact.
IU Indianapolis is Indiana’s urban R1 research university, located in the heart of the capital city.
As one of three IU campuses recognized with the 2026 Carnegie Community Engagement Classification, we bring together student talent, faculty expertise, and community partnership to serve Indianapolis and the state of Indiana.
The Office of Workforce and Community Engagement advances this mission by strengthening the connection between education, employment, and economic development. We serve as a coordinated entry point for employers, industry partners, civic leaders, and community organizations seeking to engage IU Indianapolis.
Our role is clear. Connect employers to talent. Align university strengths with workforce and community needs. Support partnerships that drive innovation and regional growth.

Description of the video:
My professional journey has been varied, but the consistent themes are around creating connections and building systems that help organizations and communities be better. The way I’ve done that work most recently has been focused on engaging employers and making sure that they are offering good jobs to people in our community who haven’t always been able to access them as easily in Indianapolis.Located steps from the Statehouse, major health systems, corporate headquarters, growing technology firms, and neighborhood organizations, IU Indianapolis operates at the center of the region’s economic and civic life. That proximity allows us to listen, respond, and collaborate in real time.
We work with employers and community partners across sectors to:
Our work connects education to employment in ways that expand opportunity for students while strengthening Indiana’s economy.
Community engagement is part of the DNA of IU Indianapolis. Our campus was founded through partnership with the city, and that spirit continues through employer collaboration, faculty scholarship, and student engagement.
As we continue to expand and strengthen employer and community connections, our commitment remains consistent: simplify access to the university, foster meaningful collaboration, and advance Service to Our City, State and Beyond.
